Passed away peacefully at The Wynfield Long Term Care Residence on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the age of 95. Devoted husband of Mary for 65 years. Loving father of Theo (Marg), Mary (Dave), Phil (MaryAnn), John (Jenny), Betty (Tom), Pete (Liza), Frank (Joanne), Murray and Martin (Danika). Cherished Opa of Andrea (James), Owen, Jay (Colleen), Kyle (Katie), Melissa (Trevor), Amanda, Katie, Kayla (Brandon), Mitchell (Aundrea), Tom (Melissa), Dan (Stacy), Stephanie (Charlie), Alex, Colin (deceased), Kurt, Etta and Vaughn. Great-Opa to Austin, Logan, Lacey, Summer, Tommy, Johnny, Isabella, Georgia, Jude and Lila. Murray is predeceased by his four brothers Frank, Gerry, Jeff and Martin. The Gerrits Family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Roy and the staff at Wynfield. Our dad became part of the Wynfield family and we truly thank you for your genuine care and compassion which you have provided every single day for the past 2 years. We'd also like to express our gratitude to Dr. Ibsen, who was so very kind and caring as dad's family doctor for 28 Years. Resting at W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby, on Sunday, March 12, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 21 Bayly Street East, Ajax, on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Murray to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
