Condolence From: Steve Orsini
Condolence: I am so sorry to hear of Roger's passing away. I had worked with Roger for many years at the Ministry of Finance. He played a critical role in advising me and the government on pension policy issues. He was always thoughtful and considerate in his advice and analysis. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Debbie, his daughters and family.

Condolence: I lost my BFF but not the memories we made my friend.
Rest In Peace Roger.

I posted this message on Facebook yesterday when I learned the sad news from your loving wife Debbie .....

"RIP Roger Hilditch Smithies, 1955 - 2017
At 3:50 am this morning, Sat., Feb. 11th, 2017, my "best" (BFF) passed away at Toronto Western Hospital.
Roger Smithies suffered a brief illness and fell into a diabetic coma a few days ago and passed away peacefully overnight.
Roger will be cremated on Monday and a private family memorial will be held. Roger leaves behind a loving wife Debra Forman and 4 children.
The Dutton Family and the Smithies Family grew up together on Woodlawn Avenue in Toronto, where we met 50 years ago when we became neighbours.
Both families have suffered the loss of all of our 4 parents from the original neighbour-"hood" days.
Rest in Peace my friend -- you will be missed."
