Obituary for Joyce Emma Rammler (Fallow)

Joyce Emma Rammler (Fallow)
RAMMLER, Joyce Emma (nee Fallow) -
Joyce passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Friday afternoon at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital in the palliative care unit. Joyce will be truly missed by her husband Harry. Dear mother of John (Wendy), Karl (Linda) and Bill. Loving grandmother to Kyle, Colin, Katelyn and Jenny. Loving sister of Sheila Mitchell and Terry Fallow (Darlene). Joyce was born in New Richmond, Quebec to her parents David and Cora Fallow (Nee Doddridge). Her family moved to Whitby in 1950 to 521 Palace Street with her Mom and Dad, loving sister Sheila and brother Terry. Joyce went to Whitby District High School and later to Henry Street School. Upon graduating she worked at the Whitby Psychiatric Hospital as a secretary. Joyce’s family joined Whitby United Church. It was there that she met Harry.
Joyce and Harry married in 1957 at St. Mark’s United Church. They travelled extensively more than half way around the world to many countries, in five different continents, with their best friends. They had three sons, John, Karl and Bill. After the kids became old enough she took on the job of Church Secretary at St. Marks United Church where she worked for 20 years before retiring. She was an avid choir member, where she sang for 60 years.
Joyce’s biggest pride was always Harry, her three boys and their families.
At the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, they renewed their vows on their patio with over 60 of their best friends. They were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary together this year on June 28th, as well as Bill’s 50th birthday.
Joyce loved the quiet and serenity of the country living in the woods on Garden St. She loved to see the wildlife still present in our woods. Joyce and Harry enjoyed the family gatherings and memories at the cottage which they sold when Joyce was beginning to fail. She was the most loving wife to Harry, who will miss her most dearly.
Family and friends may call at the W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby (905-668-3410), on Monday February 6th from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday February 7th at St. Mark’s United Church 201 Centre St Whitby.
Memorial donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to the St. Mark’s United Church In Memorium Fund or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation.
