Obituary for Ronald Charles Johannesson

Ronald Charles Johannesson
JOHANNESSON, Ronald Charles -
Passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of October 19, 2011, one day before his 82nd birthday. Prior to the last few months in Royal Victoria Hospital, he was grateful to have been lovingly cared for by family, living with his son Paul, daughter in-law Bess and Grandsons Christopher and Parker at their home in Barrie, Ontario. Born in Dinsmore Saskatchewan, growing up in Osoyoos, British Columbia, Ron ventured east following his passion for airplanes. He landed in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he met the love of his life, Kathleen Andros. They married there, had their first child Karen and then moved to Rexdale where Linda and Paul then followed. Ron spent over 20 years with Hawker Siddeley and over 10 years with Ontario Hydro where he remained until retirement. Family was Ron’s main focus. He also enjoyed skiing, tennis, camping, the beach, the outdoors, car trips, gardening, building things, model airplanes and volunteering for the church, being a Scout Leader and, in his retirement, volunteering with the Wiarton airport near his home in Oliphant. Ron was a good man. He had a quiet confidence, a solid work ethic, a truly optimistic outlook and was never one to complain. He was a gentleman, a wonderful father, dedicated husband and loyal friend. He will be greatly missed yet fondly remembered by Karen, Linda and partner Chris, Paul and wife Bess and grandsons, Christopher and Parker as well as many other relatives, close friends and colleagues. Ron was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathleen and his immediate family - parents Louis and Marjorie Johannessohn, sister Audrey and half sisters Vivian Sweitzer and Evelyn Coons. Resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Toronto (North of Rexdale Blvd.,) from Tuesday 6pm-9pm. Funeral Service will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday October 26, 2011 at 1pm. Cremation to follow. As Expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or The Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences can be made at www.newediukfuneralhome.com
