Condolences

Condolence From: Marjorie and Des Newman
Condolence: We are saddened by the deaths of Tom and June but we are consoled by the fact that they are happily together in Heaven. We have been friends for more than fifty years and Tom was a colleague on the Whitby Municipal Council where we worked together on many projects. Tom loved Whitby and he worked hard to make Whitby a better place. With June's love and support nothing was ever too difficult to accomplish. We admired his integrity and the love they had for their family which was an example to all who knew them. God blessed Tom with a beautiful voice and we remember how well he used it on many memorable occasions. Our deepest sympathy go to Lynn, Jill, Rachael and Paul and we pray that Tom and June may now rest in peace.

Condolence: Tom, Fair Thee Well My Friend! I remember that during the 1980s and 1990s you were the only Whitby Political Leader that supported the Black Community in Durham Region during our Struggle with Racism. I recall during a conversation on Racism, you said, "Mr.Clarke my Foxhole Partner in the War was a Jamaican, there were times when my survival was in his Hand and his in mine, we survived". To the Family, Bless you. Elkanah Clarke, Past President Canadian Jamaican Club 'Oshawa

Condolence: Very sorry to hear this bad news especially after June's passing very recently. I recall not long ago talking with Tom & Bill Wallace at a function at the Rowe House. I also recall when Tom ran for Mayor & won, he was the only candidate that did not put up any signs;he was that well known & respected. Our sympathy for the family.

Condolence: Tom had so many great achievements and qualities. As a youth, he fought in the great battle that turned the tide in North Africa. Here in Canada. for more than 60 years, he was an exceptional leader in so many ways. He always had a great sense of humour, a passion for public service and social justice and a marvellous voice. Tom always inspired and was never detracted from his purposes. He will be well and fondly remembered. His passing marks a profound loss for his family and for our community. My condolences from the UK.

Condolence: Our sincere condolences to the children and grandchildren of Tom and June. I had the pleasure and honour of serving as a Councillor in Whitby alongside Tom for thirteen years and was always inspired by his dedication and commitment he always demonstrated. Sad for the family to lose both parents within a couple of weeks of each other but knowing they are both reunited in heaven should also bring peace and comfort. May he and June rest in peace. Joe and Lynda Bugelli
