I have a memory from a trip to Toronto as a kid being in Uncle Al and Auntie Sophie's back yard and first realizing cucumbers could be climbing plants(as they are now in my garden), and seeing the Concorde jet fly overhead. These are two things not witnessed in Shoal Lake. I didn't get the chance to know my Gido as he passed when I was four-- I often felt that Uncle Al was in some way a living connection to him.
