Obituary for
Arthur Barron Wynne
WYNNE, Arthur Barron -
Art (or “Barry”, as his family and close friends used to call him) was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 6, 1927 to parents Arthur and Isabel (nee Angell) and celebrated his 90th birthday this past year. Art has no surviving family with his parents and siblings Bruce and Jessica (Wynne) Wilson having all pre-deceased him. Born in Minneapolis, Art spent his youth in Montreal and the United States before enlisting with the United States Army and serving as a Paratrooper in the Pacific theatre near the end of WW II. Art then moved to Canada, became a Canadian citizen, and enjoyed a long career with Procter and Gamble in sales in Montreal and then Toronto. Art spent several “semi-retirement” years working for the Toronto Ambulance Service in logistics. An avid train enthusiast, and keen photographer, Art could be found most Sunday afternoons at the CN rail yards in Concord snapping photos of all the different locomotives. Art lived his final 6+ years at the Sunnybrook Veterans’ Residence where he passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018 after having been serenaded at his bedside by a harp and guitar. Ross and David wish to give huge thanks to all the staff on Floors L1SW, K2 and K3C at Sunnybrook, for their unfailing compassion, respect and care for this worthy veteran in the sunset of his life. We also acknowledge Art’s neighbour Luba, who was as true a friend as one could be through his later life years. As per his wishes, a private interment of Art’s ashes will be held at a later date.
