Obituary for Malcolm Rae Hodgson

Malcolm Rae Hodgson
HODGSON, Malcolm Rae -

Born in Hudson, Quebec, August 12, 1932, passed peacefully during a brief stay at Etobicoke General on January 10. Survived by Sally (Reed), loving wife of 57 years, his three daughters Martha (Paddy Moore), Heather (Paul Richard) and Susan (George Leblanc) and his adored grandchildren Clara, Sadie, and Owen (Moore), Olivia, Lucie and Sophie (Richard), and Calvin (Leblanc). Caring brother of David (Shelagh - Stephen and Mary), brother-in-law to Margaret Gantchev (Peter, Andrea and Cathy) and close cousin of Scott Thompson, Bonnie (Bruce Larue) and Debbie (Brian Hobrecker).

Rae began his career as a commercial artist at Ronalds-Reynolds in Montreal and concluded as a successful advertising manager at Canadian Pacific Railway. Retirement allowed Rae to explore his love of art, travel and fine things. A talented artist, Rae loved to create, leaving behind cherished furniture, admired carvings and walls filled with beautiful art, all treasured by family and friends afar. With a passion for cars, driving and travel, he and Sally were never happier than on their many trips spent exploring the vineyards of France and Italy, the landscape of Canada, and enjoying the beaches of the south and the Bay of Fundy. His stories, songs and sayings will be retold. His laughter, smile and subtle humour will be fondly remembered. We tip our caps and raise a glass of smooth scotch in his memory.

Special thanks to the wonderful team of nurses, doctors and caregivers, especially Monika and Nickole.

Donations in Rae’s memory may be made to Parkinson’s Canada or Etobicoke Senior Support Services.
