Jim passed away with family by his side, at the Toronto General Hospital after a long struggle with COPD. Jim was born in Fergus, Ontario to parents Edward and Mary (Ross) McWaters. Beloved spouse of Carol Burke for 40 years. Proud step-father of Gary Burke (Katty), loving grandfather to Mitchell and Paige. Brother to Marilyn Gillies of Cedarville, Linda Ryan of Mt. Forest, Margery Dyce (Bob) of Cedarville and Larry (predeceased). Uncle to Gary, Patsy, Jim, Ed, Heather, Martin, Jeff, Amber, Ian, Ashley and Sean. He will be sorely missed, but lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The family wishes to give special thanks to The Toronto General Multi Organ Transplant Unit for the exceptional care, compassion and kindness that was extended to Jim and his family during the final days of his life. Resting at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue (North of Rexdale Boulvard), on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Visitation 5 p.m., funeral in the chapel 6 p.m. Reception to follow. In memory of Jim the family would ask that you consider "Pledging To Be An Organ Donor".
