REEKIE, Mary (nee Kotack) -
Peacefully, on July 28, 2017 in her 93rd year. She joins her beloved late husband, her “Honey”, George Austin Reekie (2006). Beloved mother of Patricia and her husband Myron Washchyshyn. Cherished Babcha of Marika Anastasia and her boyfriend Graeme Owens. Mary was predeceased by her parents Anastasia Homeniuk and Hrehorij Kotack, brothers Steve, Nick, Mike, John, Alec, Fred, Peter and Billy, sisters Alice Gutoski and Jean Petrovchak and half brothers Tony and Sam. Mary was also predeceased by her Reekie/McNeill family. She is survived by her loving sister Anastasia (Nellie) Dunville, half brother Paul (Kay), both of Regina, Saskatchewan, cousins Marion Arlt, Lillian Hansen and Gladys Kolybaba and many nephews and nieces from both the Kotack and Reekie families. Mary will also be missed by the Washchyshyn/Bereziak families. To Dr. Hormuz Hamrahi and Maxine Leslie of Dorothy Ley Palliative Home Care, we thank you for your compassion and tender care during these last months. We also wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Anna Goraiska, Mary’s devoted caregiver and companion for the last 5 years. Her love and care for Mary was above and beyond anything we could have imagined. Also to Ellenita and Merife of Home Instead and Marina and Fely, all who loved and cared for her in the most compassionate and loving way. Mary will be resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, (North of Rexdale Blvd.), on Wednesday, August 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Panakhyda 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Divine Liturgy from Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 182 Sixth Street, Toronto, on Thursday, August 3rd at 11 a.m., with Father Terry Lozynsky officiating. Cremation and interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dorothy Ley Hospice or Parkinson Canada would be appreciated. Вічная Пам’ять Eternal Memory.
