Obituary for Ivan Vicic

Vičič, Ivan -
Born: May 19, 1935 in
Zajelšje, Slovenia
Died: June 21, 2017 in
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Loving husband of Ivanka (nee Kirn); father of Silvester (Sharon) and David (Kim); grandfather of Evan, William, Julia, Nicole and Adriana. Predeceased by his parents and three brothers. Ivan is remembered as a man who loved his family. He was a person of great precision, confidence, artistic talent and boundless courage. He and Ivanka escaped from the former Yugoslavia in 1956, settling in Italy, Venezuela and finally their home for the past 58 years, Canada. Ivan was a singular artist in wood - he could make, repair or duplicate anything made of wood, among other things. Ivan Vičič was as generous a man as there ever was, participating fully in life. He created a positive world for all who came into contact with him. Special thanks to the loving care provided by CCAC, SRT, Bayshore, St. Elizabeth Nurses and the Dorothy Ley Hospice Centre. Resting at NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, (North of Rexdale Boulevard), on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 739 Browns Line, on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10 a.m., with reception to follow. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dom Lipa (Slovenian Linden Foundation), Dorothy Ley Hospice, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
