Condolence: Dear Joe and John,
It is with great sadness that I heard of my madrinha's passing and I want you know that you are in my prayers and close to my heart at this time. I have such great childhood memories of my madrinha and padrinho as they always made me feel loved and special. I remember the times meeting madrinha when she would come rushing out to hug me and say "Maria do Céu a minha afilhada". I always felt love and pride in those words.
Like my father, your parents dared to leave behind the life they knew in Madeira and sacrificed so much to give us and many others a better future in this wonderful country. They were extraordinary people for they showed courage, determination and perseverance, a legacy to be shared for future generations. We are blessed, but the void is deep for we will always miss them. But may we feel comfort in knowing they will continue to live in our hearts.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. It took courage and stamina to cross that big ocean and start a new life in a strange land where your own culture and language was rarely seen or heard. A true pioneer. Your mom had a distinct voice that I will never forget. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. May she rest in peace.
