NUNES, Conceição -
Conceição Nunes passed away on Thursday August 4th, 2016, peacefully and without pain, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, at Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. in her 90th year. Conceição was born in San Martino, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal on July 29th, 1926 to Fiilomena Martins and Manuel Francisco. She was married to Jose Nunes on December 19th, 1951 and became a resident of Toronto, Ontario in 1954. After their immigration to Canada, Jose and Conceição sponsored many family members, including parents, siblings, and other extended family members who have all made their lives and raised their families and prospered here in Canada. She was widowed with the passing of her husband, Jose Nunes on March 30, 1984. She is survived by her two sons: Joe Nunes and his wife, Jan, John Nunes and his wife, Patsy; five grandchildren: Jennifer (Marco) Bennetar, Aaron Nunes, Zachary (Janel Kulenkamp) Nunes, Natasha (Mike Maleczyk) Nunes and Ilianna Nunes; great grandchildren: Jacob and Mila Bennetar and Zekiel Nunes. She is also survived by her siblings: Antonieta Martins, Filomena (Manuel) Gomes, Agostino (Delia) Martins, Lurdes (Albert) Nobrega, and Dionisio (Filomena) Francisco. as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends, too numerous to list (mention Lino and Eusebio). She was predeceased by her sisters: Fernanda Abreu, and Beinvenda Canhas and by her brother Joao Francisco.
Resting at the NEWEDIUK FUNERAL HOME, KIPLING CHAPEL, 2058 Kipling Avenue, Toronto (North of Rexdale Blvd.), on Monday August 8th 2016 from 5pm-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday August 9th, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 2194 Kipling Avenue, Toronto. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 8361 Yonge Street, Thornhill, (at Yonge and 407).
